Traditional Thatch:
South African Cape Reed has been specially selected for our Thatch Roofing; with a life expectancy of 6-10 years, this traditional African-inspired roofing is a perfect option when looking for a long-lasting, yet unique-looking finish for your Breeze House. This type of roofing will naturally age and change colour over time, and will eventually have a grey-like appearance, perfectly reminiscent of the traditional African roofing that you’re likely to see in sunny Africa climes.
Combination Thatch:
Our combination thatch tile consists of a layer of extruded polyolefin imitation thatch placed over the top of the natural Cape reed roofing; this artificial layer is used to further protect the natural reed from being exposed to the elements, which will reduce the speed at which the colour change and deterioration will occur, giving the roof a longer life expectancy.
Canadian Forest Cedar has many natural traits, including its own natural oil preservatives which make it resistant to rot and decay; these oils also act as a mild pesticide, and is an excellent deterrent to insects which may cause damage to the wood. These naturally occurring traits are just some of the reasons why we believe that Canadian Forest Cedar is the superior choice for outdoor cladding; with its low rate of heat absorption for a cool touch even during summer months and its visually impressive finish, it’s no surprise that this remains an incredibly popular choice of roofing.
Our outstanding Canadian Forest cedar is tapered and cut to size by our skilled craftsmen to provide a stunning seamless finish on our circular roofs; the shingles are mounted onto vertical laths allowing the cedar to breathe naturally and are then attached to a membrane board for further insulation and protection. The added option of standard marine ply membrane or an external weatherboard with a specialist Hi-Lite TeknosTM paint finish is a great way of highlighting the ceiling and to provide a more contemporary look. We guarantee our Cedar Shingle roof for 30 years against rot and decay.
